If you are using a landline, there is no need to dial the area code unless you are calling a number located outside your city. For example, since the Perth metropolitan area is prefixed by (08), you do not need to first dial (08) for another Perth number if you are in Perth. So instead of dialling 08-12345678, you would just dial 12345678.

If you are calling a Perth mobile number using a landline or mobile phone, you need to key in all the numbers including the zero in front. For example, you would dial 0400123456. (10 numbers)

If you are making an international call using a landline or mobile phone, dial "0011" followed by the country code (e.g. 65 for Singapore) followed by the rest of the number. For example, you would dial 0011-65-12345678 for a Singapore number.

If you are using an overseas mobile phone on international roaming to call a local Australian number (landline or mobile), you need to key in the country code (+61) followed by the area code (8 for Perth Metropolitan area), and then followed by the rest of the number. If you are calling a mobile number, you should leave out the zero in front. For example, you would dial +61-8-12345678 (to a Perth landline) or +61-8-400-123456 (to a Perth mobile phone)
