Hi there,

I am looking for someone who can give me advice about Australia Immigration. Would you be able to help me? I read your blog and it seems you are very knowledgeable about the processes of migrating to Australia. I can send you my profile and let me know if I am qualified.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely
W, Singapore

Hi ASingaporeanSon,

I found this post online which is about about applying for visa subclass 489. Can you let me know if the information stated are correct? Cos I think I am not qualified for 189 and 190.

Hi WY,

Sorry for the late reply. I realised all your emails have been automatically channeled to the 'spam folder' by Gmail. Technology never fail to amaze me. They have made these platform super smart these days. Anyway, it was a good thing I finally had the time to sit down after two months of insane deadlines at work. You would have guess that, since I seemed bored enough to read my spam folder.

Unfortunately your link "http://www.bvog.com/?post=IDLw7orWwgxZNyeIS", ended me in a 404 Not Found page. If the validity of the resource you posted was timed-based, I would need you to provide me a non time-based link on your reply because I cannot be 100% sure if your email will be mysteriously filed in the spam folder in future and I may not be as bored in the near future because work is gradually building up yet again.

The subclass 489 visa is almost the same thing as subclass 189 and 190. The key difference is that it is a visa aimed to help channel new migrants into a specific state or region. I.e. if you are 'state sponsored', you will be expected to live and work in the state that sponsored you for a number of years. For the trouble, you will be granted extra 10 points for your skill select process. Thus, you will need 50 more points instead of 60 to be eligible for an invitation from the immigration department to make an application. IELTS would of course, yield a good 20 points if you managed to ace it. Therefore, take IELTS and try to get that 20 points. That will leave you 30 points between you and the ticket out of Singapore. As I do not know your background and qualifications, you will have to look through the rest of the points category, which I believe you have done so by now. Good luck.

The full requirements of subclass 489 are as follow;

To be eligible for this Visa (Subclass 489), which entitles people outside Australia to gain temporary (3-year) residence in Regional Australia based on sponsorship by a participating State or Territory government agency
  • you must gain at least 60 points in the Points Test; being sponsored by a State or Territory government agency enables you to claim an extra 10 points on the Points Test
  • your nominated occupation must be in the State Migration Plan of the particular State or Territory that is sponsoring you
  • you must be under 50 when you apply
  • you must demonstrate that you have COMPETENT English (minimum score of IELTS 6.0 in each component)
  • you must have a post-secondary qualification
  • you must nominate a skilled occupation which fits your skills and qualifications
  • before you apply, you must have your skills assessed by the Australian assessing authority designated to assess your nominated occupation
  • you must provide evidence that you have been in paid employment for at 12 months in any occupation found on the Skilled Occupations List within the last 2 years
  • you must be sponsored by the regional authority of the State or Territory where you are going to live and work
  • you must be of reasonably good health and undergo a medical examination
  • you must show that you are of good character (by providing (a) Police Clearance Certificate(s))
  • you must sign an Australian Values Statement.

  2. Every fucker and their dog is moving to Australia, seems like.

I seem to remember a saying, related to the stock market, that says if moms and dads are going all in on a stock, it's time to get out?

I wonder if the maps in Singapore only show Australia? Because the world is a big place with many countries you know.

    1. Well..it happens that Australia is the nearest western country to Singapore which can provide the lifestyle they want. The option is NZ.

  3. Hi Nix,

You are extremely patient. And nice. But I fear it may be misplaced in this instance. This person has the audacity to not only ask you for so much, but to press you for answers, and yet is unwilling to twiddle his fingers and look online and through the blogs for readily available information.

Forgive my language, but I really hope fuckers of his ilk stay the fuck out of Australia. He and that " should I take IELTS" dude should stay right where they are. Forever.
