Are You Ready Albany? Start Walking

After getting snubbed by someone trying to sell his used walker, I turned to the next best thing - getting a free one. Interestingly I got better 'service' from the owner who stood to gain nothing but karma than the one who could potentially be richer by a few bucks. The lady replied my text during lunch. She told me she was at the co-op shop (what's that?) to drop off her walker and she would save it for me if I was really interested.

"I'll come immediately, whereabouts are you?" I thought that sound like I was interested enough.

There was no hurry. The lady agreed to let me have it and I could take my time to collect it after work at her place at White Gum Valley. When I reached the place, the baby walker was placed outside as arranged. All I needed to do was to load it up my boot and drove off. Puat was surprised. Yeah, he came along too. Didn't have the choice, I was his only mode of free transport.

"This one belongs to your friend or what?" Puat couldn't resist asking.

I gave a laugh and explained briefly. I felt excited on my way back and looked forward to the curious looks from Albany with her new equipment. It could only happen the day after though, Jen took a day to make sure it was cleaned and sanitised thoroughly. Albany was not completely receptive to it on the first day but the signs were good. She should be proficient in her new bumper car soon. Before long, there wouldn't be a need for the walker anymore. It would be given away as kindness the way I received it.

  1. Hi asingaporeanson,

Not to pour cold water, but just so you know. Baby walkers are banned in Canada. The reason for it is available in the following link from wikipedia.
