Phantom Singaporeans

Yet again, POSITIVE THINKING is the way to go. This is the kind of media that feeds our population. Read this with your heart and ask yourself if your current mindset has been clouded by this kind of crap year after year after year.

Yet again, the media has been used as damage control to deflect accountability from the authorities and key appointment holders so that we can just 'move on' and accept the 'honest mistakes'.

The media is supposed to be impartial, fair and reporting the truth. The public should receive real information, not fabrication. But it has been used to instill a sense of disempowerment and paralysis among the citizens with the purpose of keep people isolated and feel that there is no possibility of social change.

Yet again.

SINGAPORE : Many commuters Channel NewsAsia spoke with have responded positively to SMRT's apology over Thursday night's train disruption.

But they added that more needs to be done to ensure a repeat of Thursday night's incident does not occur.

One commuter said: "This is not the first time this thing has happened, and I think the most important thing is to take action. You can apologise a few times, but in the end, what we expect, as commuters, is a smooth experience."

Another commented: "You can't expect everything to work all the time, so since this happened and SMRT apologised, if it doesn't happen again then I am sure that is fine."

A third noted: "I think their apology was sincere and from the heart, because they handled it the best way that they could. Sometimes when there are mechanical breakdowns, it is beyond human control."

On calls for SMRT chief executive officer (CEO) Saw Phaik Hwa to step down, some said it is unnecessary.

One commuter noted: "It is a knee-jerk reaction. Overall, I think SMRT has been doing a good job, so I do not think the CEO needs to step down..."

Another added: "If you are going to ask the (CEO) to step down after one problem has happened, yes I know it is a big problem, but if it has happened, and SMRT is going to do something about it, then give the person a chance I suppose?"

However, one person said: "If stepping down can help improve the situation, then why not?"

Oh come on, whoever who wrote this crap. You have no journalism ethics. You might as well leave out that last sentence to create a total support sentiment for the SMRT CEO. Trying to keep things in perspective?

Let me tell you the truth.

MOST Singaporeans are damn pissed with train disruptions.

ALL EXCEPT A FEW Singaporeans would want to see the back of that CEO (whoever she is) who told Singaporeans that they could get onboard and it's just that they chose not to.

EVERYONE hates squeezing into trains. The exception are perverts who are in to get fresh with working ladies.

NOBODY gives a fuck if the apology is sincere or not. They just want to see the end of these train disruptions.

  1. Possible solutions to alleviate possible similar problems:

    1) SMRT MRT & Bus fares should be reverted to the former (before the recent fare hike) & remain the same for the next 5 years.
    2) Offers reasonable compensation. Not macham mrt fare rebates, but sizeable amounts, like $150 to each affected passenger!
    3) Fine SMRT. The amount has to be at least the bonus (S$1.8 million) it's CEO received last year.
    4) Lastly, CEO Saw Phaik Hwa should step down & not receive any 2011 bonus.

All these are very good & doable solutions I think. I wouldn't complain of plagarism if LTA decides to adopt any of these solutions ;)

  2. Still can't believe what CNA has came up with in their report. This is ridiculous. Its either they don't do the ground work properly or they are covering up for SMRT.

The CEO MUST go, it's not just once, but its already a hat trick in football terms.

  3. There's just too many lapse in SMRT, 2 depot break in, everyday got train disruption and now 3 major breakdown in a week.

Mr Lui Tuck Yew did the right thing to order SMRT to thoroughly check the lines for detects / anormalities.

Thursday SMRT breakdown was very fortune that only 2 person was warded. It could be much much worst.
